Chinese Dance

Established in 1995, Nanyang Chinese Dance has nurtured many generations of excellent dancers.

Nanyang Chinese Dance is a dance group consisting of almost 60 talented young dancers with a strong passion for Chinese dance led by Mdm Ng Chin Ngee who was once also a member of NYCD. Since our first time participating in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) in 1997, NYCD has always achieved the highest accolades.

Besides participating in SYF, we also hold our on biennial Dance Night in the years without SYF, where our dancers get to showcase many items including dances of various genres of Chinese dance such as Chinese classical dance (古典舞), Chinese ethnic dance (民族民间舞）and Modern Chinese dance (现代华族舞).

Additionally, NYCD is privileged to have been invited to perform overseas at various prestigious events, such as at international dance festivals in Sweden, Korea and China. Locally, we have also had many wonderful opportunities to perform at large scale events such as the 2010 Renci Charity Concert, Youth Celebrate! 2015, Huayi — Chinese Festival of Arts 2020 at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre and Singapore Chinese Chamber for Commerce and Industry’s International Women’s Day online celebration in 2022.
