Choir

Established in 1967, the Nanyang Girls’ High School Choir has, for many years, contributed significantly to the musical culture in the school.

Under the baton of conductor Ms Lim Ai Hooi since 1999, the choir has performed well consistently, achieving excellent results. The choir received a Certificate of Distinction in the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation in 2019, adding to consecutive top awards  the choir has previously been awarded in the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging.

The choir has put up several concerts, which have been warmly received. As well as their own concerts in school, the choir was also invited to perform at the Esplanade in the Limelight series of concerts in 2009 and 2014.

As one of the top choirs in Singapore, the choir has done the school and country proud by winning top awards in international choral competitions both regionally and further afield. These have included awards in Malaysia and the Czech Republic. In July 2008, the choir participated in the prestigious 5th World Choir Games held in Graz, Austria and clinched the Gold award in the Youth Choir of Equal Voices Category. In June 2011, the choir also had a successful trip to Linz, Austria for the 3rd International Anton Bruckner Choir Competition, attaining a Gold Diploma, Level 6, and emerging champions in their category. More recently, in July 2014, the choir participated in the 8th World Choir Games held in Latvia, Riga. Combined with the HCI choir, the choir clinched a Gold Medal, coming 4th in the Youth Choir of Equal Voices Champion Category.
