Innovation

The Innovation Direct School Admission (DSA) Programme seeks to develop bright young minds in thinking critically and creatively through interdisciplinary and collaborative research.

At lower secondary level, all students enrolled in NYGH will have the opportunity to stay updated in digital skills such as coding their own iOS apps using Swift programming language and IoT devices using micro:bit. Through learning journeys and talks by experts, students will enrich their learning and explore their interests. They will also build their design thinking competencies through tinkering during Maker activities. As they move to upper secondary level, students will participate in competitions related to design and innovation where they will be challenged with devising engineering solutions for real-world problems. Some of these competitions include Engineering Innovation Challenge, MOE Innovation Programme and STEM Inc. NXplorers. They will also be encouraged to participate in industry internships or research projects related to design and/or innovation at universities and research institutions. Interested students who wish to deepen their expertise in Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) could participate in programmes on Robotics, Data Visualisation (e.g. using Tableau) and Machine Learning (e.g. using Python).
